Background:
Mohammed Yaseen, a deep sea fisherman came to Tip Top Group where I was the designer assigned to his project.
He wanted to have the pictures he took of the marlin and tuna as a decal wrap on his boat.
Objectives:
• Boat wrap of 7 meters continuous print on each side of the boat.
• Make sure that the artwork was of great print quality and would not pixelated.
• Create artwork that would fit with the client's vision and capture his passion for deep sea fishing.
Challenges faced:
• Pictures provided did not work for such a large print.
• The client requested marlin and tuna in the design, and had the vision of a marlin chasing a school of tuna.
• Images that could be found by the client were copyrighted and could not work for his vision.
• The project turned into an illustration project and research had to be done to make the design as authentic as possible.
• On the printing side I worked closely with the print operator to make sure we used the correct colors and vinyl that
would be good in the salty sea environment.
Results:
• I created vector art of a school of tuna and created vector art of marlin in two different positions.
• Made sure the background composition would not pixelate on wide print.
• Vinyl wrap was installed to great customer satisfaction.
