Background:
Dr. Noel Stephen Shamley, the founder of The Arch Medical Hub
purchased the well-known former Blood Bank building in Archbishop Desmond Tutu Street, Klerksdorp, South Africa.
Objectives:
• Design multidisciplinary medical premises layout to optimise customer flow.
• Set a blueprint for future medical hub layouts.
• Create family-friendly, locally-representative imagery and designs for communal areas.
• Create an integrated corporate identity for multi-disciplinary and multi-practitioner medical hub.
• Integrate colour and design across all enterprise disciplines.
Dr. Shamley's vision for this facility is to be a blueprint for integrated medical hubs across South Africa.
Challenges faced:
• To integrate disciplines under one roof essentially as a medical hub.
• That it would not be confused with his practice in central Klerksdorp which he began in January of 1987.
• That is would not be associated with the blood bank that was there before for many years.
• That all disciplines be integrated under one corporate entity including design and color.
• For the central courtyard to be integrated as a children's playpen to make The Arch Medical Hub more family-friendly.

Kidz Hub
One of the challenges mentioned above was for the central courtyard to be integrated as a children's playpen to make The Arch Medical Hub more family-friendly.
The vision was a playful feel that would still be appropriate enough as the location of this is just next to the reception area.
I took the African feel, of the oil paintings Dr. Shamley had in his other practice and integrated it into this fun illustration of an African cartoon-like landscape.
Keeping the same idea of the Hub, I created the Kidz Hub, a central safe place for children.
